Caregiving Series: Self-Compassion and Taking Care of Yourself (2023)

In this webinar, Stacy Dawes, the caregiver engagement lead at Family Caregivers of BC, discussed the importance of self-care and self-compassion for family caregivers. She emphasized the need for caregivers to acknowledge their own needs and practice self-kindness and mindfulness. Caregiving can be challenging and overwhelming, but self-care strategies such as self-compassion and connection can lead to increased satisfaction and resilience in the caregiving role.

This talk emphasized the importance of self-care and building resilience for caregivers. It highlighted the need for caregivers to reach out for support, share their experiences, and not feel like a burden. It also discussed the balancing act of taking care of oneself while caring for another, and provided tips on cultivating resilience.
