Global Symposium: Gyro-Kinetics for Parkinson’s (2022)

Alex Kerten, author of "Goodbye Parkinson's, Hello Life!" presented a webinar on the gyro-kinetics method to aid those with Parkinson's disease. The method, centered on movement, rhythm, expression, and energy, prioritizes awareness, and incorporates techniques like free dancing to enhance movement and rewire the nervous system.

The webinar discussed the pivotal role of body language and mindset in managing Parkinson's symptoms. Confidence and positivity were highlighted as tools to alleviate tremors and discomfort, with the placebo effect and practices like smiling and self-awareness recommended. Motivation and demotivation's impact on Parkinson's management was emphasized, with potential medication reduction through trial and error.

The presentation touched on the significance of finding an open-minded doctor for effective medication management. Self-management techniques, including breaking movements into numbers and integrating dance-like movements into daily activities, were discussed. Breathing exercises and massage were suggested to ease muscle spasms and dyskinesia. Lastly, the webinar delved into gyro-kinetics, underscoring the importance of balance in life and its combination with movement to enhance Parkinson's behaviour patterns.
