Victoria Regional Conference: The Benefits of Mindful Living (2016)
Michelle Fraleigh presented this talk focusing on integrating mindfulness into everyday life, emphasizing the essence of being fully present and purposefully attentive. Stressing its relevance in managing mental health and Parkinson's disease, the session underscored the advantages of mindfulness-based interventions. Foundational concepts for embracing mindfulness, including beginner's mind, non-attachment, non-judging, and patience, were introduced alongside encouragement to trust oneself and embrace life's uncertainties.
The session highlighted the importance of awareness regarding the body-mind-breath connection and advocated for non-striving, acceptance, and rootedness in mindfulness practice. A guided mindful breathing exercise was provided, concluding with the assertion that mindfulness, as a lifelong pursuit, fosters a sense of control and a fulfilling life.
