Vancouver Regional Conference: Yoga Dopa (2014)

In this talk, Kaitlyn Roland shared insights from her yoga class at Neuromotion Physiotherapy, a clinic specializing in neurological disorders such as Parkinson's. She highlighted her blog, Yoga Dopa, as a resource offering yoga poses and meditation guidance specifically tailored for Parkinson's and dementia. Roland referenced Renee Laverie's book, "Yoga for Movement Disorders," focusing on its sequences and modifications for various neurological conditions. She underscored the correlation between music and movement in Parkinson's, advocating for tai chi's benefits in enhancing balance and weight transfer.

During the talk, she detailed yoga exercises focusing on balance and breathing techniques. The instructions encompassed sitting back in a chair, practicing one-legged balance, and a breathing exercise known as lion's breath. Emphasizing the significance of proper posture, engaging core muscles, and deep breathing, the session aimed to promote relaxation and flexibility through yoga.
