Parkinson's Symposium: Identifying and Predicting Parkinson's Disease (2020)

Dr. Juan Li presented about the Predict Score during the webinar, aiming to assess the risk of developing Parkinson's disease in healthy individuals. The score considers five factors, including environmental and genetic elements, tissue changes, gender, and age. The webinar delved into the model's performance evaluation, discussing the variables involved like exposure to pesticides, smoking, and caffeine consumption. It highlighted the model's accuracy in distinguishing Parkinson's patients from healthy controls, demonstrating robustness across different populations. The future focus involves further validation, predictive power assessment using longitudinal data, and developing an online tool for general practitioners to aid in early PD detection and referrals to specialists.
