Measuring Quality of Life for People with Parkinson's (2020)
Dr. Ayse Kuspinar highlighted the need to measure the quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease during the webinar. She noted the limitations of existing tools like PDQ-39 and SF-36 Health Survey. The webinar proposed crafting a novel quality of life measure specifically tailored to Parkinson's, focusing on patient-relevant dimensions and preferences. The outlined project aims to identify critical life domains affected by Parkinson's, devise prototype questions, engage in cognitive interviews, and employ a discrete choice experiment to gauge preferences. The resulting index intends to assess Parkinson's impact on health, evaluate treatment efficacy, and guide treatment-related decisions. The study is currently in the recruitment phase.
