Adapting to Meet Telemedicine Needs for the Care of Parkinson's (2020)
Dr. Daryl Wile addressed the challenges encountered by individuals with medical conditions, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, in this webinar. He mentioned the Parkinson Society BC website as a supportive resource and touched upon the compilation of online exercise programs. The discussion extended to the regional prevalence of Parkinson's disease in Canada and the uneven distribution of neurologists, stressing the need for strategies to assist patients in remote areas. The webinar also delved into a study on virtual care effectiveness for long-standing headaches, revealing positive outcomes but acknowledging limitations like information loss and initial assessment difficulties. Dr. Wile highlighted challenges during virtual visits, including varied connection quality and technical issues, recognizing the importance of skilled support staff and the valuable lessons learned from these experiences.
