Dr. Judy Zhu, a clinical counselor and traditional Chinese medicine doctor, shared her experiences with mindfulness and its impact on Parkinson's disease. She emphasized mindfulness practice as a beneficial coping mechanism for both patients and caregivers. Dr. Zhu clarified that mindfulness isn't limited to specific individuals and outlined its core components: acceptance, concentration, awareness, and loving-kindness.

She highlighted its benefits, such as changes in brain function, emotional regulation, improved relationships, and overall wellbeing. Mindfulness proved advantageous for Parkinson's patients, demonstrating enhanced cognitive function, reduced anxiety and depression, increased grey matter density, and a sense of self-determination. She underlined mindfulness during daily tasks like chores and outlined a brief practice involving attention to sensations and breath, emphasizing that regular practice yields greater benefits.
