Executive Associate Dean, Education at the University of British Columbia, and Clinical Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Roger Wong joined us for this webinar on in-home safety. Dr. Wong addressed strategies for prolonging the duration individuals with Parkinson's disease could stay at home. He stressed safety measures, such as eliminating hazards and employing technology, and underscored the advantages of physical and mental activity, emphasizing the role of social engagement for overall well-being.

The webinar emphasized safety, activity, and socialization for Parkinson's individuals, delving into potential dementia development and various associated types. It highlighted the cognitive benefits of activities like reminiscence therapy and the significance of physical exercise for brain health. The talk explored socialization's role in promoting overall well-being, suggesting diverse ways to engage socially. It also stressed comprehensive geriatric assessments and the collaboration between geriatricians and neurologists to support those with Parkinson's.
