Ask the Expert: How to Cope as a Family Caregiver (2018)
In this webinar Eleanor Silverberg, social worker, author, speaker and grief specialist presented healthy coping approaches. She introduced the "Three A Selfie Coping Tool" from her book, "Keeping it Together: How to Cope as a Family Caregiver Without Losing Your Sanity," encouraging caregivers to self-monitor activities like sleep, exercise, and proper nutrition. Stressing the significance of acknowledging and assessing losses, she underscored the value of resources and support.
Additionally, Eleanor discussed diverse coping styles and the impact of grief on caregivers' well-being. The presentation delved into caregivers' prevalent emotions, encompassing worry, fear, guilt, and feeling overwhelmed. It emphasized normalizing these emotions and navigating the grief process. The webinar highlighted various coping strategies, including self-care, resource utilization, finding humour, adapting to challenges, and fostering connections with others.
